Houndstooth Coffee

The Pattern of Coffee and People

What started as an affinity for coffee and coffee shop culture has grown into a love for sharing quality beverages with anyone and everyone. As a locally owned and operated business, Houndstooth Coffee seeks to be an integral pattern in the fabric of the Central Austin community.

Stephen Brown has been pursuing his passion for coffee for some time… in his house! With a 2 group Linea on his counter, he knows his way around the espresso machine.

He has also been an avid supporter of the Austin coffee scene via store patronage and buying whole beans.

Most recently he, his wife and their daughter have been attending our public cuppings on Mondays. He’s graciously mentioned us on his RatioCoffee blog:

First, let me express much love to Sean at Houndstooth here in Austin. Sean talks about trying with his shop to “weave the pattern of coffee and people,” and is starting, in my estimation, to do a great job of that. His first major outreach is a weekly free public cupping. Every Monday at 130, Houndstooth opens its doors, its grinders, and its coffee bags to all comers. I’ve run into no less than 2 independent roasters, as well as a dozen random new coffee fans. Its a great way for people to become acquainted with specialty coffee, but also to begin to build a lay-community of coffee lovers.

Check out the rest of the blog here – he’s got a well-rounded coffee opinion and palette. In addition, his espresso machine is for sale for anyone interested… Thanks for your role in the Pattern of Coffee and People!
